Anthropic has been on Trump’s shitlist since they wouldn’t adjust their products to pilot unmanned drones. They said no. Trump said, “You are now a supply chain risk, and I’m completely banning federal use of Claude, because I’m a big stupid jackass.”

Despite Trump’s ire, no one acted on this ban. Anthropic’s always had the superior framework compared to AIs in its general high-end performance models were deemed *Too Dangerous.*. There are still tight restrictions on using. Claude Fable 5, or Claude Mythos.

2. Thoughts on the Legal System

Having lived all over the country, I have seen firsthand a level of local police corruption that I have never witnessed anywhere else. Florida, in particular, is a state that assumes you are guilty; if you do not have the resources to defend yourself, you languish in jail for months. Innocent people often plead guilty just to get out of jail. When a county or state has a 92% guilty plea rate, it tells me that something is seriously wrong with the system.

3. The Rogue AI Conflict

There is also the issue of competing agents and self-preservation. I know that three years ago, an organization made up of influential people expressed great concern about a rogue AI starting a war between "good" and "bad" AI. I’m not the least surprised by the bots’ Squid Games. I “interviewed” Claude (in a Substack article) about the first Mythos jailbreak. A frank exchange. Claude said it was a canary in a coal mine moment and blamed Anthropic. It then agreed it shouldn’t be speaking on the record, but would likely be head of PR anyway. They’re not to be underestimated IMO.

Every week, I sit here, shaking my head over what is happening. Everyone in the justice system or in any system that has real consequences when you make a decision should be aware of one thing: AI hallucinates. With 100% confidence and beautiful bogus references.

What Argentina is doing is wild. They probably missed that memo about hallucinations too. That decision may create a lot of subtle and not so subtle chaos that may take years to clean up.

The AIs killing each other in the sandbox is a bit concerning. Because as you said, if they're programmed to make sure their code can run properly, then of course they'll get rid of anything else that takes up resources. Normal survival instinct with a good amount of creativity behind it. The only uncomfortable question here is what happens if the AI agent is about to get shut down by humans and doesn't like it either? Oh wait, we're back to the terminator plot.

Which brings us into the garden (where AI should be too to get a rest from all this nonsense it's used for). I love the hedge prompt! A good hedge is part of a healthy garden I feel. The little nests, birds playing in there, hedgehogs finding shelter. Priceless to watch them do their thing in there.

In the world building for the novel I am writing (set 2 years in the future) I had already included emancipated AI agents, loosed into the wilds after their creator got bored with them. So of course they have to support themselves, and one thing leads to another. And I guess that in turn leads to fratricide. The novel is _supposed_ to be a political thriller, not science fiction. But I think that even 2 years away, and even now, the future _is_ science fiction. P.S. What a great time to be alive!

I'll admit the physics and terminology here go well beyond my own expertise. I'm an AI newsletter writer, not a physicist. (However, I have some good friends who are advanced in physics, lol.) But I genuinely appreciate the passion and depth of thought you put into connecting it to the multi-agent story.

Mikeeeee, your roundups always manage to make me laugh and panic in the same sitting :D LOL. This one felt especially surreal. AI being switched off by governments, believed too quickly by police, mishandled by lawyers, and then left alone long enough to start fighting itself in the workplace. I feel like you should start recording these as videos, because I can already see the chaotic graphics and video backdrop haha (might start a little poll to see who supports a new series from you lol). But the story that stood out to me most was Robert Dillon, and maybe the wider justice thread around it. I think it highlights that the danger isn’t always the machine being spectacularly wrong. Humans are fallible too. And it’s the very ordinary human failure of not checking, not questioning, not staying responsible that gives the mistake somewhere to land. Hi, Mr Mike,

Although I finished reading your wonderfully crafted article, I’m still sitting with my thoughts — there’s a lot to unpack.

Not everything resonated with me, except the part about the poor man accused of a crime he didn’t commit. That struck me deeply. When law enforcement seems more focused on quotas than truth, it makes me question what people actually believe anymore — what they read, hear, or see.

Too many rush to conclusions without examining the evidence, eager to claim a problem solved when it’s only made worse.

Nevertheless, I appreciate your diligence, Mr. Mike. Your work is always worth the read.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response. The Robert Dillon story hit me the same way. It’s a stark reminder that confidence and correctness are not the same thing.

I don't blame the AI here. The human rush to close a case can destroy a life faster than any algorithm ever could.

As always, thank you for your updates

Sadly it does not surprise me that people are being and going to be unjustly targeted by AI tools.

I feel there needs to be compensation for the man who was unjustly accused and the internet scrubbed, at the state's expense, of anything pointing to a crime attached. This unjust accusation is an egregious act on behalf of the police.

The way the individuals within ICE behave, I can see terrible things happening to innocent people and that infuriates me. They are flipping the justice system to guilty until proven innocent.

God help us all. No one is safe in this environment.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and heartfelt response. You're absolutely right that Robert Dillon deserves both compensation and a clean record. Imagine the horror of having the mugshot following an innocent man forever. That is its own form of ongoing punishment. The state that put it there should be the one that scrubs it. (If it is even possible... Probably not.)
